Abstract:

The paper deals with the usage patterns of forms of address in modern communication in Russian and English languages. The changes in socio-political formation, lack of unmarked forms of address to unknown recipients, media impact, introduction of new communicative spheres and, consequently, communicative situations are the factors that explain the reasons for such a variety of forms of address.
